Telco Systems Successfully Completes Multi-Vendor Carrier Ethernet Interoperability Testing

FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS September 24, 2008 Telco Systems, a provider of Carrier Ethernet transport, access and service extension solutions, today announced its participation in the largest, most diverse Carrier Ethernet multi-vendor interoperability event ever staged. The test network was hot-staged during August at the EANTC Test Lab in Berlin and showcased at the recent Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Berlin, Germany, September 22 - 26.

Telco Systems participated in comprehensive test scenarios with more than eight participating vendors. The tests included:

  • Resiliency mechanisms
    • LiACP/LAG/xSTP with dual-homed MTU’s
    • Multi-point MPLS resiliency
    • MPLS Fast Reroute
    • Native Ethernet using Telco Systems’ Ring Protection Protocol

  • Structure-aware TDM CES (CESoPSN)

  • E-Line, E-LAN, and E-Tree services

  • Link OAM based on the IEEE 802.3ah standard

The Telco Systems’ products that were used during the testing included the T-Marc 340 and 380 Ethernet Demarcation and Service Extension, the T-Marc 250 and 254 Ethernet Demarcation and Circuit Emulation, the T-Metro 200 Carrier Ethernet Multiservice Access Platform, and T5C and T5C-XG routing/switching systems.

“Telco Systems has participated in the EANTC interoperability test since 2005 and applauds the effort made by EANTC to create this very rigorous and comprehensive test arena,” stated Ofer Finkelstein VP Marketing of Telco Systems. “Results of this event have enabled us to demonstrate that the solutions we are offering to our customers are ideally suited to their needs for deploying Carrier Ethernet solutions in metro aggregation, access and edge network.”

The test environment included over 100 devices supplied by 28 vendors covering the latest IEEE, ITU-T and MEF specifications for Carrier Ethernet services. Hundreds of multi-vendor real-world test combinations were verified highlighting the current status and the future of Carrier Ethernet networks and end-to-end services. A number of critical test areas, including resiliency mechanisms as well as Operations, Administration and Maintenance, Mobile Backhaul and Triple Play services were verified during the hot staging and are being showcased at CEWC.
Additionally, IPTV, gaming services and end-to-end SLA measurements were set up to verify that the network can carry real, high quality end user applications.

A 20-page white paper with detailed findings is available for download from the EANTC website at http://www.eantc.com/cewc2008.
